Lead Custodian

Position Summary
Lima School District #12 is seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated Lead Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and community members. The successful candidate will perform custodial duties, coordinate assignments when applicable, maintain supplies and equipment, and prepare facilities for daily instruction and district activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, cafeteria, and other school facilities.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, dust, disinfect, and maintain floors and surfaces.
- Clean windows, doors, walls, drinking fountains, handrails, and other designated areas.
- Empty waste containers and properly dispose of trash and recyclables.
- Maintain custodial supplies, equipment, and organized storage areas.
- Prepare facilities for meetings, athletic events, school activities, and district functions.
- Coordinate custodial assignments and assist or direct staff when assigned.
- Monitor work quality and report supply, staffing, maintenance, or facility concerns to the superintendent.
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and follow sanitation procedures.
- Identify and report safety hazards, leaks, equipment malfunctions, and security concerns.
- Assist with seasonal cleaning and grounds cleanup as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the superintendent.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to organize tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently.
- Professional communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn proper cleaning, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures.
- Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and use required protective equipment.
- Ability to perform essential job duties, with reasonable accommodation as required by law.
- Ability to meet district employment and background-screening requirements.
- Flexibility to work additional hours for school events or special cleaning assignments as needed.

Position Title: Lead Maintenance Worker

Position Summary
Lima School District #12 is seeking a dependable and motivated Lead Maintenance Worker to maintain the safety, functionality, and condition of district buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities. The position includes routine maintenance, minor repairs, seasonal groundskeeping, snow and ice removal, and coordination of assigned maintenance tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs in classrooms, offices, restrooms, the gymnasium, cafeteria, shop, and other district facilities.
Install and repair paper towel and soap dispensers; tighten loose furniture hardware; replace light bulbs and water fountain filters; and complete minor painting.
Inspect building components and report plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and other facility concerns requiring qualified professionals.
Maintain grounds, sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and exterior spaces through seasonal cleanup and general upkeep.
Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, entrances, parking lots, bus loading zones, and other designated areas. Operate approved snow removal equipment when trained and authorized.
Apply approved ice-melting products and traction materials and respond to weather-related maintenance needs outside regular work hours when necessary and authorized.
Coordinate maintenance priorities with the superintendent, organize assigned tasks, maintain tools and supplies, and document completed work when requested.
Assist with moving furniture, setting up rooms for school events, and providing direction to other maintenance personnel when assigned.
Follow district safety procedures, use appropriate protective equipment, secure work areas, and promptly report hazards, accidents, and property damage.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous maintenance, construction, repair, or groundskeeping experience of at least 2 years.
Basic knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment, and repair practices.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, communicate effectively, and operate approved equipment safely following appropriate training.
Ability to recognize when specialized or licensed professional services are needed.
Ability to perform essential job duties, with reasonable accommodations as required by law.
Ability to meet district employment and background-screening requirements and maintain a flexible schedule when needed.

Position Summary
Lima School District #12 is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and organized individual to serve as the district’s Transportation Director/Lead Bus Driver. This position is responsible for coordinating the district’s transportation program, safely transporting students, overseeing daily bus operations, and ensuring that all district buses are roadworthy, properly maintained, and ready for service.
The successful candidate will help ensure reliable transportation for students traveling to and from school, extracurricular activities, athletic events, field trips, and other district-approved activities. The Transportation Director/Lead Bus Driver will work closely with the superintendent, school staff, bus drivers, students, and families to maintain a safe, efficient, and dependable transportation program. Assist with transportation planning, budgeting, vehicle replacement recommendations, and compliance with applicable Montana laws and regulations.
Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned by the superintendent.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet all applicable Montana school bus driver requirements, including those established under Montana Code Annotated § 20-10-103 and applicable administrative rules.
Qualifications include:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Be of good moral character.
Hold the appropriate Montana driver's license and commercial driver's license endorsements, Passenger (P) and School Bus (S).
Maintain required medical examination documentation.
Hold a valid basic first aid certificate from an authorized instructor, as required by applicable law and rules.
Meet applicable driving record, background check, certification, and other state requirements.
Obtain and maintain required Montana school bus driver credentials
.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous school bus driving or transportation experience.
Experience coordinating schedules, maintaining records, or overseeing vehicle maintenance.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and respond appropriately to emergencies.
Commitment to student safety, professionalism, and dependable service.
Working Conditions
This position requires operating a school bus on public roads and rural routes, working in varying Montana weather conditions, and performing routine vehicle inspections. Duties may include entering and exiting buses, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and handling transportation-related equipment. The position may require early morning and afternoon routes, occasional evenings or weekends, and transportation for school activities.
